Notes from the research
  • Cites Sage's BES875 quick guide, which is Sage's current code for The Barista Express. No Sage-hosted BES870 English manual was found (the sageappliances.com BES870 path 404s). The Breville BES870XL manual is cited as s2 for contrast.
  • Descale hardness bands are in Sage test-strip levels (4 → 90 days, 6 → 60 days) with no published °dH mapping, so every_by_hardness could not be filled.
  • Sage (UK BES875) and Breville (US BES870XL) manuals differ for the same machine: filter 3 months/40 L vs 2 months; descale by hardness with no prompt vs on the CLEAN / DESCALE light. This record follows the Sage manual.
  • No interval for the routine grinder burr clean, group wipe, purge, or seal replacement.
  • Burr replacement life, shower screen replacement and a service interval are not stated by Sage/Breville.
  • The water filter cartridge is not named in the manual.
