Clear a blocked grinder (advanced clean): Sage Barista Express

Steps

1. Only do this if grounds are blocked between the burrs and the grinder outlet. Start by removing the hopper.

2. Set GRIND SIZE to 1, the finest setting.

3. With a 10 mm socket, turn the burr nut clockwise just to loosen it; do not remove it yet.

4. Set GRIND SIZE to 16, the coarsest setting.

5. Unlock the top burr and take it out.

6. Take off the nut, spring washer and flat washer, then carefully lift out the lower burr.

7. Pull out the grind fan and its washers with long-nose pliers.

8. Clear the grinds exit chute with the brush or a pipe cleaner.

9. Brush the chute clean.

10. Put the washers and grind fan back with the pliers: felt washer, then metal washer, then grind fan.

11. Refit the lower burr so its drive pin meets the cavity, then add the flat and spring washers.

12. Tighten the nut by turning it anticlockwise.

13. Refit the top burr and lock it.

14. Set GRIND SIZE to 5, then refit and lock the hopper.
