  1. Empty the drip tray and slide it back in.

  2. Switch the machine off and let it cool for at least 4 hours.

  3. With it off, hold 1 CUP, then also hold POWER, for 3 seconds until rSEt shows.

  4. Use UP or DOWN to reach dESC and press MENU to confirm.

  5. Pull off the grey silicone cover marked DESCALE ACCESS on the lower front panel.

  6. Lay a cloth over the drip tray to keep steam in.

  7. With a flat head screwdriver, open the right valve slowly anticlockwise until fully open; steam may escape.

  8. If no water comes out into the drip tray, hold 1 CUP for 3 seconds to release it. Optional

  9. Once the boiler is empty, close the valve clockwise until it seats, without overtightening.

  10. Drain the second boiler the same way through the left valve.

  11. Empty the drip tray, carefully, as it may be hot.

  12. Empty the water tank and take the water filter out.

  13. Dissolve 1 sachet of Sage Descaler in 1 litre of warm water and pour it into the tank.

  14. Press 1 Cup to begin; the LCD counts down 20 minutes while the boilers fill with solution and heat.

    From the manual: “Begin Descale a) Press 1 Cup button and the LCD screen will show countdown time (20 minutes).”

  15. Let the countdown reach 0 so the solution has time to dissolve the scale; some water may run from the group.

    From the manual: “Allow the countdown timer to reach 0 as this allows solution sufficient time to dissolve scale build up.”

  16. Press 1 Cup to start the flush; the boilers fill with fresh water and heat over a 20-minute countdown.

  17. Cover the drip tray with a cloth again.

    From the manual: “Place a cloth over the drip tray to stop steam escaping.”

  18. Drain both boilers through the right and left valves as before.

  19. Empty the drip tray and put it back.

  20. Empty the tank, rinse it, fill it with clean water to MAX and lock it in.

  21. Run the whole flush (fill, drain, refill) a second time to clear any remaining solution.

    From the manual: “We recommend flushing boilers again to ensure any residual descale solution is released from the boilers.”

  22. Press POWER to leave Descale mode; the machine is ready to use.
