Backflush with detergent: Lucca A53 Direct Drive and Lucca A53 Direct Mini
Before you start
- Tools
- blind basket, supplied, portafilter
- Supplies
- Cafetto EVO espresso machine cleaner (about 1/2 teaspoon)
Steps
- Swap the portafilter's filter basket for the blind cleaning basket.
From the manual: “Remove the filter basket from the portafilter and replace it with a blind cleaning basket.”
- Put about 1/2 teaspoon of Cafetto EVO cleaner into the blind basket.
From the manual: “Add about 1/2 teaspoon of Cafetto EVO espresso machine cleaner to the blind filter.”
- Lock the portafilter into the group.
From the manual: “Lock your portafilter into the group head.”
- Press the shot button and let the pump run for 10 seconds.
From the manual: “Press the shot button to run the brew cycle for 10 seconds.”
- Press it again to stop, and let the pressure bleed off for 10 seconds.
From the manual: “let the machine rest for 10 seconds to release pressure”
- Repeat the on/off cycle ten times, or until the water in the drip tray runs clear. Repeat 10 times, or until the water runs clear
From the manual: “Repeat this cycle ten times or until the water runs clear in your drip tray.”
- Take out the portafilter and rinse the detergent off it.
From the manual: “Rinse the portafilter to wash off any remaining detergent.”
- Lock it back in with a clean blind basket and no cleaner.
From the manual: “this time with a clean blind filter without the cleaner”
- Run the same 10-second on/off cycles again to rinse out any detergent.
From the manual: “Repeat step 2 to rinse and make sure no detergent residue is left.”
- Rinse the portafilter with water and refit the normal filter basket.
From the manual: “Rinse with water and put the filter basket back into the portafilter.”
