Before you start
- Tools
- two 14 mm open-end wrenches, gasket pick / hook, screwdriver, toothbrush
- Supplies
- La Pavoni seal kit (piston seals and shower-screen gasket); food-grade grease
Warnings

Steps
- Unplug the machine, let it cool fully, then drain the water from the boiler.
From the manual: “Unplug the machine and let it cool down before draining the water from the boiler.”
- Undo the nuts above the piston using two 14 mm open-end wrenches.
From the manual: “Using two 14mm open-end wrenches, unscrew the nuts above the piston.”
- Pull out the two lever pins and put them somewhere safe.

- Lift the lever off and ease the machine over onto its side.

- Hook out the shower-screen gasket.

- Take out the shower screen, then the piston.

- Hook the two piston seals off the piston.

- Unbolt the group head and lift off the piston body.

- Unscrew the copper pipe and its plastic fitting.

- Scrub the seals and the piston-body interior using soapy water and a toothbrush.

- Fit the new seals from a La Pavoni kit with their wide side facing outward.

- Screw the plastic tip and the copper tube back on.

- Grease the piston and the inside of the body with food-grade grease.

- Slide the piston back into the body, keeping it aligned.

- Seat the shower-screen gasket and push the shower screen in.

- Put the piston body back on the boiler and tighten its bolts.

- Refit the lever with its pins and nuts.

- Set the lever height so the piston cannot reach the shower screen.
