Before you start

Tools

Warnings

Steps

  1. On a 58x, take apart and unhook the lever locking hook before touching the plunger. Only when: Flair 58x

From the manual: “Dissasemble and detach locking hook, then use stem to remove plunger”

  2. Use the lock-in stem to pull the plunger up and out through the top of the brew cylinder, wiggling it free.

From the manual: “use your lock-in stem to pull/wiggle it out the top of the cylinder”

  3. Rinse the plunger with water, then dry it with a clean cloth.

From the manual: “To clean your plunger: Rinse with water and dry with a clean cloth.”

  4. Give the plunger o-rings a light coat of food-safe oil, since rinsing strips the coffee oils that kept them sliding.

From the manual: “it is good practice to lightly lubricate the o-rings to re-encourage smooth travel”

  5. Wipe off any excess oil before refitting the plunger.

From the manual: “Simply apply a light application of food-safe oil and wipe away the excess.”
