Replace the portafilter gasket: Slayer Single Group

Before you start

Tools
flat-head screwdriver, pick or awl, cleaning brush or towel
Supplies
replacement portafilter gasket (6.1 mm)

Steps

  1. Scrub the portafilter gasket with a cleaning brush or towel to loosen oil and grounds.

    From the manual: “Use a cleaning brush or towel to scrub the portafilter gasket and loosen oil and coffee grounds.”

  2. Take out the dispersion screw and screen with a flat-head screwdriver and rinse them in clean water.

    From the manual: “Remove the dispersion screw and screen with a flat-head screwdriver and rinse with clean water.”

  3. Wipe the face and sides of the dispersion block, and the portafilter body, with a clean damp towel.

    From the manual: “wipe oil and grounds from the face and sides of the dispersion block, as well as the portafilter body.”

  4. Dig a pick or awl into the old gasket and pull downwards to remove it.

    From the manual: “Use a pick or awl to remove the old portafilter gasket, pressing the pick into the gasket and pulling downwards.”

  5. If it breaks up, keep picking until every piece is out. Optional

    From the manual: “If the gasket breaks into small pieces, continue picking until the entire gasket has been removed.”

  6. Insert the new gasket flat side against the group, rounded side facing down.

    From the manual: “Insert new portafilter gasket in such a way that the flat side touches the grouphead”

  7. Press it gently into place, then seat it with a screwdriver, pick or awl.

    From the manual: “Gently press the gasket into place, then use a screwdriver, pick, or awl to secure it in place.”

  8. Refit the clean dispersion screw and screen.

    From the manual: “Return the clean dispersion screw and screen to the grouphead.”
