Run the F.01 group washing cycle: Rancilio Silvia Pro X

Before you start

Tools
blind filter disk (or blind basket), supplied group brush, container for the rinse water, microfiber towel
Supplies
coffee machine cleaning detergent (the detergent supplied with the machine or an equivalent; dose per its package)

Steps

  1. With no portafilter fitted, run water through the group for 3-4 seconds.

  2. Brush the gasket under the group with the supplied brush.

  3. Put the blind filter disk in the portafilter, add the detergent, and lock the portafilter in.

    From the manual: “Insert the blind filter disk and add the detergent supplied or an equivalent.”

  4. Lift off the cup grid and set a container underneath to catch the rinse water.

  5. Hold the - and + buttons together for 3 seconds to open the menu.

    From the manual: “To access the menu, press the - and + buttons together for 3 seconds”

  6. Step through with - or + to F.01 and press the coffee button; the display shows CL1 as the wash starts.

    From the manual: “Choose F.01 from the menu and press the coffee button to confirm.”

  7. At CL2, take the portafilter out and rinse it and the blind disk under water.

    From the manual: “When the display shows CL2, remove the portafilter with blind filter disk and rinse both with water”

  8. Lock the portafilter back in without the blind disk and press the coffee button to carry on.

    From the manual: “Lock the portafilter back in place without the blind filter disk and press the coffee button”

  9. At CL3, take the portafilter out and fit the blind disk again.

    From the manual: “When the display shows CL3, remove the portafilter and insert the blind filter disk once again”

  10. Lock it back in and press the coffee button to continue.

    From the manual: “Lock the portafilter back in place and press the coffee button to continue the washing cycle”

  11. When the display returns to its start screen, unlock the portafilter and take out the blind disk.

    From the manual: “At the end of the washing cycle the display will show the initial screen.”

  12. Refit the portafilter, empty the drip tray and put the cup grid back.

    From the manual: “Insert portafilter into group head, empty the drip tray and relocate the grid”

  13. Wipe the outside of the machine with a damp cloth.

    From the manual: “Clean the outside of the machine with a damp cloth”
