Replace the group gasket: Quick Mill Silvano EVO

scratch awl or ice pick, portafilter

Supplies

Silvano group gasket (size not stated)

Steps

1. Switch the machine off and wait until the group head is cool to the touch.

   From the manual: “make sure the machine is off and the group head is cool to the touch”

2. Stab the old gasket with an awl or ice pick and lever it carefully out of the group.

   From the manual: “Use a scratch awl or ice pick to pierce the gasket and then carefully pry it out of the group head.”

3. Clean away every scrap of the old gasket before fitting the new one.

   From the manual: “Be sure to thoroughly clean all remnants of the old gasket before installing the new one.”

4. With its bevelled side up, press the new gasket evenly into the group by hand.

   From the manual: “To install the new gasket with the beveled side facing up evenly work the gasket into the group head by hand.”

5. Take the basket out of the portafilter and use the portafilter to push the gasket further in.

   From the manual: “remove the insert basket from your portafilter and then use the portafilter to work the gasket up further”

6. Refit the basket and use the portafilter to push the gasket fully home.

   From the manual: “install the basket back into the portafilter and use it to work the gasket up the rest of the way”
