Backflush with espresso machine cleaner: Quick Mill Andreja Premium

Before you start

Tools
blank portafilter insert (backflush disc), supplied, portafilter, damp cloth
Supplies
espresso machine cleaner (1/4 teaspoon per backflush)

Steps

  1. Use the upturned blank insert's edge to lever the basket out of a portafilter.

    From the manual: “Turn it upside down and use its edge to pry the basket out of one of your portafilters.”

  2. Set the blank insert (backflush disc) in the portafilter and seat it with a firm slap of your palm.

  3. Put 1/4 teaspoon of espresso machine cleaner into the backflush disc.

    From the manual: “place 1/4 of a teaspoon of espresso machine cleaner into the backflush disc in the portafilter”

  4. Lock the portafilter into the group.

    From the manual: “then lock the portafilter into the grouphead”

  5. Lift the brew lever fully for 15 seconds, then lower it.

    From the manual: “raise the brew lever all the way up for 15 seconds, and then lower it”

  6. Keep cycling the lever until the cleaner has dissolved and the water runs clear, about 5-10 times. Repeat about 5-10 times, until the water runs clear

  7. Take the portafilter out and rinse it well.

    From the manual: “Remove the portafilter from the group and rinse thoroughly.”

  8. Wipe the underside of the group with a damp cloth.

    From the manual: “Then take a damp cloth and wipe the underside of the group.”

  9. Pull one shot and throw it away to season the group again.

    From the manual: “I recommend you pull a shot of espresso and dispose of it to cure the group”
