Steps

  1. Empty the main drip tray completely; the cycle drains into it.

  2. Fill the water reservoir up to, but not over, the Max Fill line.

    From the manual: “Fill the water reservoir up to but not exceeding the Max Fill line.”

  3. Put the double basket in the portafilter.

    From the manual: “Insert the double basket in the portafilter.”

  4. Lay the cleaning disc on the basket, handle up.

    From the manual: “Place the cleaning disc on top of the double basket, with the handle facing up.”

  5. Put one cleaning tablet in the centre of the disc.

    From the manual: “Place 1 cleaning tablet in the center of the cleaning disc.”

  6. Lock the portafilter into the group head.

    From the manual: “Fasten the portafilter in the group head.”

  7. Press CLEAN, then press the center dial to start.

    From the manual: “Press the CLEAN button, then press the center dial to start the clean cycle.”

  8. Let it backflush the shower screen and group head for about 6 minutes, until it beeps.

    From the manual: “The clean cycle will take approximately 6 minutes to complete.”

  9. Carefully remove the portafilter and drip tray (both may hold water) and hand-wash them in warm soapy water.

    From the manual: “remove both the portafilter and main drip tray with caution, as there may be water in both.”
