Clean the grinding system and grease the adjustment threads: Mazzer Mini and Mazzer Mini Electronic

Before you start

Steps

  1. Unplug the grinder before you start.

  2. Undo the hopper's fastening screw and lift the hopper off.

  3. Take out the safety screw that stops the adjustment disk from coming off.

  4. Turn the adjustment disk clockwise to unscrew it.

  5. Lift out the upper burr holder.

  6. Clean the burrs, the threads and the whole grinding system thoroughly with a clean brush and cloth.

  7. Scrub the grinder threads with a small wire brush.

  8. Test the threads: without the upper holder, screw the disk anticlockwise to the end; if it binds, clean again, then remove it. Repeat until the disk turns easily

  9. Make sure the grind adjustment springs are in place.

  10. Seat the upper burr holder back in its slot.

  11. Grease the disk's threads and the underside that bears on the upper holder with food-safe grease.

  12. Screw the adjustment disk back on by turning it anticlockwise.

  13. Refit the self-locking screw in whichever of the disk's two holes gives the best adjustment.

  14. Refit and secure the hopper, then dial the grind back in.
