Backflush the group with cleaning powder: Kees van der Westen Speedster Single Group
Before you start
- Tools
- blind filter (supplied), plastic group brush (supplied), group screen extractor (supplied)
- Supplies
- coffee dissolving powder (espresso machine cleaner) (1 teaspoon per backflush; a jar ships with the machine)
Warnings

Steps
- Take out the filter holder, lower the lever to run the pump, and flush the group for about 5 seconds.

- Scrub the group screen and the rubber group seal with the plastic group brush.

- Lever the filter basket out of the holder with the extractor and put the blind filter in.
From the manual: “Pry the filter basket from the filter holder (see Figure 16) and replace it with the blind filter.”
- Add 1 teaspoon of coffee dissolving powder to the blind filter and lock the holder into the group.
From the manual: “Scoop 1 teaspoon of coffee dissolving powder in the blind filter and place the filter holder in the group.”
- Hold the lever down about 10 seconds until the pressure reaches a full 9 bar, then raise it to stop.
From the manual: “Activate the pump until full 9 bar pressure is reached (lever in lower position for approximately 10 seconds)”
- Wait about 5 seconds so the pre-infusion cylinder empties, then run the pump again for about 10 seconds.

- Repeat that 5-second pause and 10-second pump run nine more times. Repeat 9

- Unlock the filter holder and rinse the blind filter under the tap.

- Run the pump about 5 seconds with no holder in to wash powder off the group screen.

- Rinse with 4 more cycles of 5 seconds off and 10 seconds pumping, taking the holder out and emptying it between each. Repeat 4
From the manual: “Repeat step 6 (5 seconds group “OFF”, 10 seconds “pump active”) 4 times”
- Pry out the blind filter and refit the normal filter basket.
