Lubricate the E61 brew-lever cam: ACS Vesuvius
Before you start
- Applies when
- E61 group operated by a brew lever and cam (not a spring or manual lever piston)
- Tools
- adjustable wrench, flat-head screwdriver
- Supplies
- food-safe lubricant (Molykote (Dow) 111 recommended)
Warnings

Steps
- Undo the flat-head nut on the end of the brew lever and take the lever off.
From the manual: “Remove the E61 lever by taking out the flathead nut at the end of the lever.”
- With the adjustable wrench, unscrew and draw out the inner part of the lever with the cam shaft.
From the manual: “Use the adjustable wrench to remove the inner portion of the lever and cam shaft.”
- Clean the cam and its housing thoroughly.

- Grease the cam head with food-safe lubricant and fit it back into the group.
From the manual: “then lubricate the cam head with food-safe lubricant and reinstall into the group head”
- If the cam will not go back in, unscrew the bottom of the E61 so the lower valve drops out, fit the cam, then refit the bottom. Optional

- Refit the lever and its nut.
