Weekly group head flush with detergent: Decent Espresso DE1, Decent Espresso DE1PRO and Decent Espresso DE1XL
Before you start
- Tools
- blind basket (supplied with the DE1), coffee basket
- Supplies
- Cafiza espresso machine cleaning powder (one tablespoon in the blind basket)
Warnings

Steps
- Fit the blind basket in the portafilter and add one tablespoon of Cafiza powder.
From the manual: “Insert a blind basket in the portafilter and put a tablespoon of Cafiza powder in it.”
- Hold the portafilter over the drip tray, flush a little water onto the powder and swirl to dissolve it into suds.

- Lock the portafilter, detergent and all, into the group head.
From the manual: “Put the portafilter (with the detergent) into the group head.”
- Run the Forward Flush x 5 preset (Settings > Presets) so it flushes five times, pushing detergent up into the group.
From the manual: “It will flush the detergent from the blind basket up towards the group head.”
- Tip the detergent out of the portafilter, then keep flushing the group with plain water into the blind basket.
From the manual: “continue to backflush the group head with water to remove the detergent residue.”
- Stop once no suds appear in the blind basket. Repeat until no suds appear

- Swap in a coffee basket and flush with water once more.
From the manual: “replace it with a coffee basket and flush with water again.”
