  4. Top up with water to the B mark and refit the tank.

  5. With the portafilter off, put one container (about 1 litre) under the coffee outlet and hot water spout and a second under the steam wand.

From the manual: “Make sure the portafilter (C1) is not attached and position a recipient under the coffee outlet, hot water spout (A7)”

  6. Hold the Descaling button until its light blinks; descaling starts.

  7. Let the programme run: descaler comes out of the wand and coffee outlet in bursts and pauses until the tank is empty.

From the manual: “comes out of the steam wand and coffee outlet.”

  8. When delivery stops and the light turns white, the rinse is next.

From the manual: “Delivery stops and the light turns to white.”

  9. Empty both containers and put them back empty.

From the manual: “Empty the recipients used to collect the descaler solution and replace them empty.”

  10. Take out the tank, pour away any descaler left, rinse it, fill with fresh water to MAX and refit it.

From the manual: “empty any residues of descaler solution, rinse with running water and fill with fresh water up to the MAX level”

  11. Hold the Descaling button until its light blinks; the rinse starts.

From the manual: “begins to blink: rinsing starts.”

From the manual: “When rinsing is complete, delivery stops and the appliance prepares to be used again.”

  13. Empty the containers of rinse water.

From the manual: “Empty the recipients used to collect the rinse water.”
