Steps
- Take any water softener out of the tank.
From the manual: “(IF PRESENT, REMOVE THE WATER SOFTENER DEVICE).”
- Pour the descaler into the tank up to the A mark inside it, which equals one 100 ml pack.

- Add 1 litre of water up to the B mark and put the tank back.

- Turn the mode selector dial to the descale position; the descale light blinks and the OK light turns orange.

- With the portafilter off, put a container (2 litres) under the coffee outlet, hot water spout and steam wand.

- Press OK to start descaling.

- Let the programme run: descaler comes out of the wand and coffee outlet in bursts and pauses until the tank is empty.

- Empty the container and put it back empty.

- Take out the tank, pour away any descaler left, rinse it, fill with fresh water to MAX and refit it.

- Press OK to start the rinse.
