Run the Descaling Program: Calphalon Temp IQ Semi-Automatic
Before you start
- Time
- About 10 minutes (the program itself: four runs of about 2 minutes each)
- Tools
- two containers of at least 4 cups
- Supplies
- espresso machine descaling tablet (1 tablet dissolved in 4 cups of warm water), optional; liquid descaler (half a capful in 4 cups of warm water), optional; white vinegar (1½ tablespoons in 4 cups of warm water), optional
Warnings

Steps
- Start with the machine on and in the Ready state, the dial upright at READY.

- Make up the solution in the reservoir with one of the three options, and let it dissolve or mix fully.

- Put the reservoir back in place.

- Stand a 4-cup container under the group head and another under the steam wand.

- Hold ON/OFF for 4 seconds, until the ON/OFF and READY lights flash together in a pattern.

- Within a minute, turn the dial to STEAM; solution runs from the wand for about 2 minutes until it stops.

- Turn the dial straight to 1 SHOT without pausing at READY; solution runs from the group for about 2 minutes.

- Take out the reservoir and rinse it under running water until no solution is left.

- Fill it with clean water to MAX and put it back.

- Empty both containers and set them back in place.

- Turn the dial straight to STEAM to purge the wand with fresh water, about 2 minutes.

- Turn the dial straight to 1 SHOT to purge the group head, about 2 minutes.

- When ON/OFF is lit steadily and READY flashes, the program is done: return the dial to READY.
