Steps

  1. Shut the stop valve upstream of the filter head.

From the manual: “Close the check/shut off valve before exchanging the filter cartridge.”

  2. Screw the old cartridge out of the head by turning it clockwise.

From the manual: “In case of replacement unscrew the filter cartridge clockwise out of the filter head.”

  3. Get your carbonate hardness from the water supplier or measure it with a titration test. Only when: at installation, or if your water has changed

From the manual: “The carbonate hardness can be requested from the water supplier or determined with a titration test.”

  4. Pick a bypass setting (0-3) for that hardness from the tables; for machines that make steam BWT lists 3 up to 10 °dKH, 2 at 12-14 and 1 from 17. Only when: at installation, or if your water has changed

From the manual: “Hot beverage preparation with steam generation”

  5. Press button "a" on the head and twist the cap either way until it clicks at that setting (the default is 2). Only when: at installation, or if your water has changed

From the manual: “until the required bypass setting is reached and the cap snaps into place”

  6. Seal the bypass cap with the supplied warranty label and write the month and year on it. Only when: after changing the bypass

From the manual: “The bypass should be sealed with the included warranty label. Note month and year on the label.”

  7. Unpack the new cartridge and take off its hygiene cap.

From the manual: “Unpack the filter cartridge and remove the hygienic cap.”

  8. Write today's date and the change-by date, at most 12 months on, on the cartridge label.

From the manual: “mark the installation and replacement date (no later than 12 months) on the product label”

  9. Screw the new cartridge into the head anticlockwise.

From the manual: “Screw the filter cartridge counter clockwise into the filter head.”

  10. Open the stop valve and look for leaks.

From the manual: “Open the check/shut off valve and check the system for leaks.”

  11. Flush and bleed the cartridge through the flushing valve built into the besthead FLEX head (or a flushing tap after other heads), running at least the minimum volume the manual lists for your size. Repeat until clear and free of bubbles

From the manual: “A flushing valve is included in the filter head besthead FLEX.”

  12. Alternatively, flush it with the machine's own filter start-up function, if it has one. Optional

From the manual: “has a function for commissioning filter cartridges, the filter system can be purged from the appliance”
