Change a bestmax PREMIUM cartridge and flush it in: BWT bestmax PREMIUM S, BWT bestmax PREMIUM V and BWT bestmax PREMIUM M
Before you start
- Tools
- 10 litre container, total hardness drop test (or the water supplier's figure)
- Supplies
- BWT bestmax PREMIUM filter cartridge (S (FS22P00A00), V (FS23P00A00) or M (FS24P00A00), same size as before)
Warnings

Steps
- Shut the stop valve upstream of the filter.
From the manual: “Close the existing check valve before replacing the filter cartridge!”
- Unscrew the old cartridge clockwise; rotating the head 90 degrees in its bracket makes this easier.

- Check whether your water's total hardness has changed, and adjust the bypass and change interval if it has.

- Get the total hardness from the water supplier or with the drop test.
From the manual: “The total hardness can be requested from the water supplier or established by means of a quick test”
- Pick the bypass (0-3) from the tables; for machines that make steam BWT lists 3 up to 10 °dH, 2 at 12-14 and 1 from 17.

- Turn the head's cap until its mark shows that setting and it clicks home (the default is 2).

- Lock the setting with the warranty label from the box. Only when: after changing the bypass

- Take the new cartridge out of its film and pull off the hygiene cap.

- Mark the fitting date and a change-by date no more than 12 months later on the cartridge's rating plate.

- Screw the new cartridge into the head anticlockwise.

- Open the stop valve.

- Flush and bleed it with at least the minimum volume: 1 l for S, 3 l for V, 5 l for M.

- Flush through the machine's filter start-up function if it has one. Optional

- Or flush through a flushing valve fitted at the filter outlet. Optional

- Otherwise close the stop valve and pull the outlet hose off the machine. Only when: if neither the machine nor a flushing valve can flush it

- Hold the hose end in a 10 litre container and open the valve. Only when: if neither the machine nor a flushing valve can flush it

- Let it run until the water comes out clear and without bubbles. Only when: if neither the machine nor a flushing valve can flush it Repeat until clear and bubble-free

- Close the valve, reconnect the hose to the machine and open the valve again. Only when: if neither the machine nor a flushing valve can flush it

- Check the filter and every connection for leaks.

- Throw the old cartridge away according to local rules.
