Clean the burrs and grind chamber: Baratza Vario W+

Steps
- Close the hopper's bean shut-off knob so 'CLOSED' faces up.
From the manual: “Ensure the bean shut-off knob (3) on the hopper (2) is in the closed position.”
- Run the grinder until the beans left in it are ground out.
From the manual: “use the START/STOP (7) button to run the grinder to expel any coffee that remains in the grinder.”
- Unplug the grinder.
From the manual: “Always unplug the grinder from the electrical supply before assembling, disassembling or cleaning.”
- Turn the hopper counterclockwise to unlock it and lift it off.
From the manual: “Grip the hopper and rotate it counterclockwise to unlock it.”
- Fit the supplied burr removal tool on the upper burr carrier so its notches catch the carrier wings.

- Turn the tool clockwise to unscrew the carrier; grip the tool with pliers if it will not move.
From the manual: “Rotate the burr removal tool clockwise to unscrew the upper burr carrier from the grind chamber.”
- Lift the upper burr carrier out once it is fully unscrewed.

- Brush the carrier and the face of the upper burr with a non-metal brush such as a toothbrush.

- For a deeper clean, unscrew the upper burr from its carrier with a small flat-head screwdriver and brush both behind it. Optional

- Screw the upper burr back into its carrier without overtightening the screws. Optional

- Set the upper burr carrier on the grind chamber so it sits level.

- Thread it in counterclockwise with the tool; it should turn smoothly.

- If it binds, back it off clockwise, clear coffee from both threads, level it and try again. Optional

- Set the hopper on with the shut-off knob toward the back left, push down and turn clockwise to lock it.
