Replace the cone burr: Baratza Sette 270

Warnings

Steps

  1. Close the bean shutoff knob and press START to purge the beans left in the grinder.

  2. Unplug the grinder.

    From the manual: “Remove the power plug from the power outlet.”

  3. Turn the hopper counterclockwise until it stops and lift it off.

    From the manual: “Remove the hopper by rotating it counterclockwise until it stops”

  4. Swing the adjustable portafilter hook out to one side.

  5. Turn the grind adjustment assembly past the coarsest setting to the blue triangle; it drops down and out.

    From the manual: “rotate the grind adjustment assembly beyond the coarsest setting to the install/remove indicator (blue triangle).”

  6. Hold the adjustment assembly in one hand and pull or prise the cone burr holder away from it.

    From the manual: “grab the cone burr and holder with your other hand and pull/pry them apart.”

  7. Pull the exit chute off the cone burr holder.

    From the manual: “remove the exit chute by pulling away from the cone burr holder.”

  8. Fully loosen the bolt in the bottom of the holder with the supplied 5 mm hex key.

    From the manual: “fully loosen the bolt in the bottom of the cone burr holder”

  9. Take the old cone burr off; if it sticks, rest the bolt in place unthreaded and tap the hex key on the bench to knock it free.

  10. Fit the new cone burr so the tabs on the holder sit fully in the slots under the burr.

    From the manual: “Reinstall the cone burr so that the tabs on the cone burr holder seat fully into the slots on the bottom of the burr.”

  11. Refit the bolt and tighten it as far as it will go.

    From the manual: “Reinstall the bolt and tighten down as much as possible.”

  12. Push the exit chute back on.

    From the manual: “Reinstall the chute.”

  13. Stand the holder burr-down on the counter and press the adjustment assembly firmly down over it until they join.

    From the manual: “firmly press the adjustment assembly down onto the cone burr and holder”

  14. Line up the blue indicator on the assembly with the blue indicator on the right side of the grinder.

    From the manual: “Align the blue installation/removal indicator on the grind adjustment assembly”

  15. Push the assembly gently upward and turn the black cone burr holder until it keys in and slides up.

    From the manual: “rotate the black cone burr holder (fig G) until the tabs and notches line up”

  16. Keep pushing up and turn the blue tab toward the back of the grinder until the assembly clicks home.

    From the manual: “The adjustment assembly will click as it properly engages”

  17. Refit the hopper with its shutoff knob at 11 o'clock (back left), press down and turn clockwise until the front tabs line up.

    From the manual: “Press the hopper down, and rotate clockwise until the alignment tabs on the front are aligned.”
