  2. Run the grinder until the beans left in it are ground out.

From the manual: “Grind the remaining beans in the grinder.”

  3. Unplug the grinder.

From the manual: “Always unplug the grinder from the electrical supply before assembling, disassembling or cleaning.”

  4. Turn the hopper counterclockwise to unlock it and lift it off.

From the manual: “Grip the hopper and rotate it counterclockwise to unlock it.”

  5. Fit the supplied burr removal tool on the upper burr carrier so its notches catch the carrier wings.

From the manual: “Place the included burr removal tool (17) on the upper burr carrier”

  6. Turn the tool clockwise to unscrew the carrier; grip the tool with pliers if it will not move.

From the manual: “Rotate the burr removal tool clockwise to unscrew the upper burr carrier from the grind chamber.”

  7. Lift the upper burr carrier out once it is fully unscrewed.

From the manual: “Once the upper burr carrier is unscrewed completely, lift it up and remove it from the grinder.”

  8. Brush the carrier and the face of the upper burr with a non-metal brush such as a toothbrush.

From the manual: “use a non-metal, bristle brush such as a toothbrush to clean around the burr carrier”

  9. For a deeper clean, unscrew the upper burr from its carrier with a small flat-head screwdriver and brush both behind it. Optional

From the manual: “For a deeper clean of the upper burr carrier, use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the burr in the burr carrier.”

  10. Screw the upper burr back into its carrier without overtightening the screws. Optional

From the manual: “use the screwdriver to reinstall the screws and burr.”

  11. Brush the grind chamber around the lower burr and the lower burr face.

From the manual: “clean the grind chamber around the lower burr and the surface of the lower burr.”

  12. For a deeper clean, unscrew and lift out the lower burr, then brush the carrier top, the burr back and the exit chute opening. Optional

From the manual: “clean the top of the lower burr carrier, the back of the burr, and the opening of the grounds exit chute.”

  13. Screw the lower burr back in without overtightening. Optional

From the manual: “use the screwdriver to reinstall the screws and burr.”

  14. Set the upper burr carrier on the grind chamber so it sits level.

From the manual: “It should sit level with the grind chamber and will not thread on properly if it is not level.”

  15. Thread it in counterclockwise with the tool; it should turn smoothly.

From the manual: “Use the burr removal tool to rotate the upper burr carrier counterclockwise to carefully thread it into the grind chamber.”

  16. If it binds, back it off clockwise, clear coffee from both threads, level it and try again. Optional

From the manual: “make sure it is level, that the threads on both the grind chamber and upper burr holder are free of ground coffee”

  17. Set the hopper on with the shut-off knob toward the back left, push down and turn clockwise to lock it.

From the manual: “Push down and rotate the hopper clockwise to lock the hopper into place.”
