Backflush the group with cleaning powder: Ascaso Steel DUO PID

Before you start

Tools
blind (cleaning) basket, group brush or cloth
Supplies
espresso machine cleaning powder (e.g. PuroCaff) (a small, penny-sized scoop); Ascaso Coffee Washer V.666 (Ascaso's own product for the distribution unit, dose not stated), optional

Steps

  1. Put the blind (cleaning) basket in the portafilter.

  2. Add a small, penny-sized scoop of cleaning powder such as PuroCaff and lock the portafilter into the group.

  3. Run the brew switch for 7 seconds, then release it for 10 seconds; do this 5 times. Repeat 5

  4. Take the portafilter out and run the brew switch for 10 seconds to purge the group.

  5. Lock the portafilter back in with no powder and repeat the 7 s on / 10 s off cycle 5 times. Repeat 5

  6. Remove the portafilter again and purge the group for another 10 seconds.

  7. Go through the whole routine again until the water from the group and the discharge tube looks clean. Repeat until the water from the group and the discharge tube looks clean

  8. Wipe oils and grounds off the group screen and gasket with a group brush or cloth.
