  3. Remove the catch cup.

From the manual: “remove the catch-cup.”

  4. Push the burr up from the bottom and unscrew the knurled thumb nut counterclockwise.

From the manual: “Loosen the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise while pushing the burr from the bottom.”

  5. Take out the top bearing cover, the top bearing and the sliding column.

From the manual: “Take out the top bearing cover, the top bearing and the sliding column/screw column.”

  6. Take out the shaft with the burr, then the lower bearing cover and the spring.

From the manual: “Take out the shaft, burr, lower bearing cover and spring.”

  7. Unscrew the burr ring unit and the upper ring cap clockwise and remove them.

From the manual: “Turn the burr ring unit and the upper ring cap clockwise to remove them from the grinder.”

  8. If the outer burr ring is hard to grip, fit the catch cup onto it and turn that clockwise. Optional

From the manual: “Attach the catch-cup to remove the outer burr ring by turning clockwise.”

  9. Brush each part clean and blow the dust out with an air blower; use no water.

From the manual: “Clean each of the parts with a brush and an air blower.”

  10. On a fixed crank handle, unscrew the PC lid counterclockwise (some need a 6 mm hex key), pull off the wooden knob and brush both clean. Optional Only when: fixed (non-folding) crank handle

From the manual: “Loosen the PC lid by turning it counter-clockwise for a thorough cleaning.”

  11. Screw the burr ring unit and upper ring cap back counterclockwise, stopping at resistance.

From the manual: “Turn the burr ring unit and the upper ring cap counter-clockwise to the tightest position.”

  12. Refit in order: lower bearing cap with its raised edge up, then spring, then shaft and burr.

From the manual: “lower bearing cap (the raised edge side facing upward), spring, shaft and burr.”

  13. Match the dot on the sliding column to the dot on the upper ring cap, turn the column over and seat it in the cap.

From the manual: “Align the dot on the sliding column to the dot on the upper ring cap”

  14. Holding the burr up, refit the sliding column, the upper bearing, then the upper bearing cap with its concave edge up.

From the manual: “sliding column, upper bearing, upper bearing cap (the concave edge of the cap facing upward).”

  15. Still pushing the burr, screw the knurled thumb nut clockwise.

From the manual: “Turn the knurled thumb nut clockwise while pushing the burr.”

  16. Let go of the burr, then screw the adjustment dial on clockwise and stop at the first resistance.

From the manual: “tighten the adjustment dial clockwise and stop when you feel resistance.”

  17. Read the number at the dot where the handle starts to turn with resistance; that is your zero, and it need not be #0.

From the manual: “We define the zero point as where the handle starts to spin with resistance instead of the tightest position.”

  18. To make zero read #0: take the dial off, turn the thumb nut counterclockwise one click per number the dot read past #0, refit the dial and recheck. Optional Repeat until zero reads #0 (±2 clicks)

From the manual: “Adjust the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise with 1 click.”
